V Rising is a huge success, which came as a surprise to the development team: “I didn’t expect so many people to play it,” said Stunlock Studios Community Manager Jeremy Fielding. “I don’t think anyone expected this.”
V Rising sold over 500,000 copies in its first three days and immediately took first place on the Steam charts, overtaking Steam Deck and Arma Reforger, the new installment in Bohemia Interactive’s shooter series.
“The road has been slow,” Fielding admitted, speaking of the development of V Rising. “Small company with new intellectual property? It took a long time for most users to start noticing our project.”
With the release of the closed beta version of V Rising, everything has changed.
We started getting a lot of attention when we went into closed beta and people were able to try the game for themselves. We have a pretty unique game that’s hard to explain – we say “dark fantasy vampire survival RPG” and when you hear that, your brain imagines a million different things at once. I think it’s hard to really understand until you try to play it yourself”
