To stand out in the flood of pixel adventures, every indie studio has its own recipe. From Happy Broccoli Games, the crazier the better! The Berlin developers are sending you on a special kind of school start: As the newest student at the Kraken Academy, you are to infiltrate the four AGs of the boarding school in order to eliminate a traitor who is threatening to destroy the entire facility. At least the giant octopus who lives in the school pond warns of this, and because he equips you with a magical amulet that lets you travel back in time, this is not further questioned. Instead, you experience your first days on the crazy Penne over and over again, make friends with students and collect returnable bottles to get the small change with which you buy yourself into the AGs.
Unfortunately, the game does little with the “groundhog day” concept, because only a few side quests are time-critical, and time travel is irrelevant for puzzles. The characters can score points: Whether it’s the broccoli girl with a penchant for grilling vegetables, the pretty boy from the school band who waxes his high cheekbones, or the cultist art students who summon demons after school – you simply have to love the colorful cast. It carries the wonderfully silly story about their six hours excellently and motivates them to get involved with side tasks in order to spend more time with these characters.
