After the official gameplay reveal at the end of last year, “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” finally got a final release date. The adventure of Gollum will therefore appear in the summer.
After the official gameplay presentation of “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” at The Game Awards 2021 last December, things got pretty quiet about the dark fantasy adventure.
Anyone who feared that this could be a bad sign can now sit back and relax. As the developers responsible at Daedalic Entertainment announced, “The Lord of the Rings Gollum” is not one of the titles threatened with postponement. Instead, the stealth adventure will appear this year as planned. More precisely on September 1, 2022, as confirmed today.
The PC, the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5, the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S are supplied, while the implementation for the Nintendo Switch will follow at a later date.
An alternate look at the history of Gollum
Based on the legendary The Lord of the Rings novels by JRR Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum tells the story of the tragic character Gollum. After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey that will take him from the dungeons of Barad-dûr to the realm of the Wood Elves in Mirkwood. According to the developers, the story gives you an alternative view of the history of Gollum.

In addition, when working on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Daedalic Entertainment placed great emphasis on the fact that Gollum’s character and physical idiosyncrasies were taken into account. Not only does Gollum have to deal with his hobbit self over and over again. In addition, a large part of the adventure consists of stealth passages in which you are faced with the task of moving as unnoticed as possible.
“Gollum also meets familiar characters from the books, as well as a few new faces,” the developers continue.
