APACER and ZADAK Announce Their PCIe Gen 5 NVMe Consumer SSDs with Aluminium/Graphene Pad and Heatsink Cooling for Transfer Rates up to 13,000MB/s
One of the main features of the next generation Intel and AMD platform will be support for PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs. Phison is currently working with various brands and companies, including AMD, as announced yesterday, to build their Gen 5 ecosystems. Now, at Computex 2022, we’ll get our first look at PCIe Gen 5 NVMe consumer SSDs that will hit the market at the end of this year.
The APACER PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs shown come in two flavors, one is a standard APACER design and the other is a ZADAK design. APACER AS2280F5 is a NVMe 2.0 compliant PCIe Gen M.2 NVMe SSD with read and write speeds up to 13,000 and 12,000 MB/s. SSDs are backwards compatible with PCIe Gen 4, but with Gen 5 you get twice the performance. The APACER drive comes with an aluminum heatsink and has several built-in protection technologies that have yet to be disclosed.
AS2280F5 M.2 PCIe Gen5 x4 SSD
Equipped with the latest high-speed PCIe Gen5 x4 interface, supports the latest NVMe 2.0 standard. Read and write performance up to 13,000/12,000 MB/s Backwards compatible with PCIe Gen4 but doubles performance Designed with exclusive high quality metal cooling fins Built-in multiple protection technologies to ensure correct and stable read and write data Comes with a 5-year global warranty
ZADAK TWSG5 Gen5 x4 Solid State Drive
Adopts the latest high-speed PCIe Gen5 interface, supports the latest NVMe 2.0 standard. Read and write performance up to 13,000/12,000 MB/s Comes with two types of heatsinks: ultra-thin graphene and aluminum. Comes with a 5 year global warranty
The ZADAK TWSG5 Gen5 x4 SSD has a similar design but comes with either a graphene cooling pad or an aluminum heatsink. Both PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs will come with a 5-year warranty and will be available at a price above existing Gen 4 SSDs.
There is no information about the controller used on these SSDs, but they may use the Phison E20 controller, which will be a high-end solution for many premium 5th generation NVMe storage solutions.
