Peter “Durante” Toman, known for his work on several video game porting projects, has announced a new PC update currently available for Falcom-developed and published by NIS America Ys 9: Monstrum Nox.
While he was working on the PC port of the upcoming game The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and optimizing it for the Nintendo Switch to achieve a stable 60fps, he implemented a fix he discovered in Ys 9 that improves performance and draw distance.
A graph showing the improvements from this implementation can be seen below:
In addition, the following changes were included in the latest update:
Improved performance under CPU limit. The extent to which you notice this depends on the specific game scene, settings, and GPU/CPU balance of your hardware. Adjusted the refresh rate selection algorithm to more reliably select the available refresh rate closest to the desired one. Game executables are now signed. This will hopefully reduce the number of antivirus false positives that some players sometimes experience. Corrected the English description for the Holy Sword’s Hilt accessory to correctly reflect its capabilities.
