The Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday will be released on Netflix in the fall of 2022. Collider reports.
The release is scheduled for the period between September and November. The main role in the project will be played by 19-year-old Jenna Ortega (“You”). Tim Burton (Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland) will direct.
The series follows the eldest daughter of Morticia and Gomez Wednesday as she struggles to cope with her psychic abilities and survive at school. Burton intends to show a new side of the iconic characters. It is assumed that the project will be rather gloomy, in the usual style of the director.
The series will also feature actors Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro) as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzman (Lemony Snicket: 33 Misfortunes) as Gomez Addams. Music for the series will be written by composer Danny Elfman (Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, Beetlejuice).
