In Call of Duty: Warzone, the community can run for a good cause for nine days.
Activision has announced a Call of Duty: Warzone charity event through June 3rd. The Call of Duty developer invites the community to run 100 kilometers in Warzone for a good cause.
There will also be special rewards such as unlocking a bronze calling card at 25 km, a silver calling card at 50 km and a gold calling card at 100 km. This should of course strengthen the incentive for the event.
The Veteruns event is the first charity race to take place in a video game. The publisher has announced that it will donate up to $10 for every kilometer run as part of a $1 million total donation to the Call of Duty Foundation.
“We always strive to engage our players in new ways and working with the foundation allows us to give our fans the opportunity to do something that is both fun and impactful. This is an event we are all looking forward to and we can’t wait to see the enthusiasm in the community as they compete for the top of the leaderboard for a good cause,” said Fernando Machado, Activision’s Chief Marketing Officer blizzard
With this foundation, Activision has been helping war veterans to find employment for many years. The Call of Duty Endowment program, which began in 2009, has now brought 100,000 veterans back to work, reaching its goal two years ahead of schedule.
