It is assumed that the Hangar 13 studio is now working on a prequel to the Mafia series about Don Salieri: the game allegedly takes place in Sicily. According to journalist and insider Jason Schreier, the studio has plans for two games at once in the Mafia universe.
The second project is a continuation of the not-yet-released prequel to the series. Nick Baines, the new director of Hangar 13, who took over the studio after the departure of its founder, Hayden Blackman, allegedly intends to launch it into development.
According to Schreyer, Baines’ idea is simple: after the development of the Mafia prequel is completed, studio staff will be able to immediately switch to a new project. Usually the pre-production of a new game took some time and the staff had to be reduced, this time there will be no such problem.
Most likely, now the continuation of the Mafia prequel has not yet been launched into development – the main game itself is at an early stage. But development on a sequel, Schreier argues, will definitely start before the prequel’s release.
Both projects have no release windows. It can be assumed that the Mafia prequel will appear no earlier than 2025.
