According to journalist Jeff Grubb, the PS5 will soon receive an updated processor on a 6-nanometer process technology, and the hypothetical PS5 Pro is still far away.
Grubb touched on this topic when commenting on information that appeared at the conference of equipment manufacturer TCL Technology. According to him, the hardware upgrade will have, in fact, productive reasons, that is, it will allow to increase production while reducing costs. The new version of the console, which will still be as powerful as the current one, may have a revised design, but Grubb isn’t sure about that: “I don’t think there’s a chance for a PS5 Pro release anytime soon.”
Why then did TCL include information about the new PlayStation 5 and the new Xbox Series in their conference? For Grubb, the explanation is very simple: He’s a TV maker, and talk of a new 8K console allows him to increase sales of his products through fear of being cut off from potential customers.
