A video showing a game in action Kirby for GameCube, canceled while it was in development. Nothing strange, given that similar things happen more times than you think, especially in large studios.
Interestingly, no platform from the Kirby franchise was released on Nintendo’s cubic console, despite the fact that the company had big plans for the character. The only Kirby game starring was Kirby Air Ride, a racing game.
The Kirby from the video was announced in 2004 simply as the Kirby for the Nintendo GameCube. Development started in 2000. It was supposed to come out right after the Kirby Air Ride, but nothing came of it. To publish the video was the Twitter account Obscure Kirby Media & Facts, which is in charge of recovering all the material concerning the pink character of Nintendo.
The video is only 9 seconds long and is not exactly great quality. It shows Kirby battling enemies using power-ups. The game seems to mix 2.5D and 3D levels.
Fortunately, the character did not end with the cancellation of that game, but he was the protagonist of many other titles, first of all Kirby and the lost land for Nintendo Switch, recently published.
