Apple has shared new data from the App Store, according to which in 2021 the store’s security system weeded out about 1.6 million risky and unreliable applications, and prevented fraudulent transactions by almost $1.5 billion.
Apple rejected over 34,000 apps for hidden features and over 157,000 apps that were spam. Over 343,000 applications have been rejected due to various privacy violations.
In addition, the company has blocked more than 800,000 fraudulent developer accounts and deactivated over 170 million fake user accounts.
Apple notes that the app review team has helped more than 107,000 developers get their apps on the App Store in 2021.
The iPhone manufacturer paid particular attention to cheating app ratings – Apple removed more than 94 million reviews and more than 170 million ratings for not meeting moderation standards.
Apple also prevented more than 3.3 million stolen credit and debit cards from being used to make any transactions on the App Store.
