A few years ago, Studio Ghibli revealed plans for its own amusement park. Fans can look forward to different topics. However, two will open much later than originally planned.
Once complete, Ghibli Park near Nagayo will consist of five areas in total. Three of the areas, the “Storehouse”, the “Hill of Youth” and the “Dondoko Forest” are scheduled to open on November 1, 2022. However, the areas for “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Kiki’s Delivery Service” take longer – and for good reason.
Operators have confirmed that the opening of these areas will be delayed. Both films lean heavily on European architecture. Builders were therefore instructed to use traditional materials and techniques to make everything as true to the original as possible. These two areas will not open in autumn 2023 as originally planned, but in March 2024.
