OPPO has just appointed Nicolau Mesquita as its new Head of Sales. In fact, the brand has been present in Portuguese territory since 2020 and has been investing in the development of its local structure. In this way, it now adds a weighty element to the team to assume responsibility for defining, managing and implementing the entire sales strategy in Portugal.
The new head of the brand in Portugal has about 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and retail sectors, the professional is the first to perform these functions for the Chinese multinational in the national market.

Nicolau has a degree in Business Management from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão. He also has a postgraduate degree in marketing from Católica and an executive course in strategic marketing from the London Business School.
However, throughout his professional career he has performed various management and coordination roles in the marketing and/or sales departments of some of the most relevant brands operating in the Portuguese market.
“I believe that all the ingredients came together to make it practically impossible for him not to accept this challenge. It’s an industry I like and know particularly well, and it’s a brand with tremendous ambition and potential. Even as someone who wants to continue to develop their skills”, justifies Nicolau Mesquita.
Furthermore, with a professional career that began in 1997, at Ericsson, he has, in the meantime, worked for companies such as Optimus, Oniway, PT Comunicações, Nokia, Altran, SONAE and CGI.
Now, when starting this new stage, Nicolau Mesquita identifies the main objectives: “Along the way, I played different roles that allowed me to develop skills that I believe are capable of making a difference in the current moment of OPPO. Immediately, judging by the quality of our equipment, we want to increase our market share, expand the business, and make known both the brand and the products, from smartphones to our IOT range, to more Portuguese consumers.”, he concludes.
