Alana Pierce may have revealed the date for the next Nintendo Direct. According to a former IGN journalist and current Sony Santa Monica writer, the next Big N showcase will take place on Wednesday June 29th.
Pierce’s tip came seemingly unintentionally during a Twitch live commentary on yesterday’s Xbox Showcase news. After finishing commenting on Microsoft’s presentation, she talked about the upcoming events, even mentioning the Nintendo Direct scheduled for later this month.
When viewers pointed out to her that the Kyoto-based company still hadn’t made an official announcement about the matter, Pierce checked her diary again and repeated the June 29 date.
Through her profession as a journalist, Alana Pierce has built up a solid network of contacts in the gaming industry over the years, so there’s a good chance the leak is true.
To find out the truth, we can only wait for news from Nintendo. Rumors have previously pointed to June 15 as a possible date for the next Direct, but regardless, the Kyoto-based company has always used the summer period to introduce new releases for its consoles, and it’s doubtful that 2022 will be the exception to the rule given the number of games coming out in the next few months, such as Bayonetta 3 and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
