The owner of the PS5 filed a lawsuit against Sony Electronics because of the shutdown of the PlayStation Store in Russia. The Petushinsky District Court of the Vladimir Region granted the application – this is the first such decision on a lawsuit due to an online service that has stopped working in the country.
The Petushinsky District Court ordered Sony Electronics to replace the PS5 Digital Edition with a working version within a week, and if this does not happen, then the corporation will be charged 500 rubles for each day of delay. If it is not possible to execute the court decision, then the owner of the console will receive 15 thousand rubles per month.
Sony suspended the supply of games and consoles to the territory of the Russian Federation in early March. Since the plaintiff has a digital version of the PS5 without a disc drive, he cannot use the device for its intended purpose.
