In an interview conducted by IGN, Morio Kishomoto, the responsible game director behind the platformer, mentioned various interesting details about “Sonic Frontiers”. Among other things, it was about the scope of the game and the character progression.
With “Sonic Frontiers”, the developers of Sonic Team are currently creating a new adventure about the fastest hedgehog in the world, with which the series should be returned to its old strength.
In an interview conducted by IGN, the game director responsible for “Sonic Frontiers”, Morio Kishomoto, went into the playful implementation of the new “Sonic” title and, among other things, spoke about the scope and the season. Since we are dealing with an open-world adventure with “Sonic Frontiers”, the playing time will be a little longer than with the classic offshoots of the past.
On average, according to Kishomoto, it will take players about twenty to thirty hours to see the end credits, depending on skill and approach.
Sonic gets a skill tree
If you’re one of those who really want to see everything and master all the optional tasks, then you can double the playing time mentioned by Kishomoto, it says. Another innovation that accompanies the open-world concept and the increased playing time is the character progression confirmed by Kishomoto. Using a corresponding skill tree, you will have the opportunity to provide Sonic with new skills or to improve his skills.
“While this may be unusual for a level-based platformer, we decided to implement a skill tree and the ability to level up Sonic,” the game director stated, confirming that one of the things you’ll do is increase Sonic’s speed can. The developers of Sonic Team would like to give more details on this topic in the coming months.
