Many of us remember Watto, the Tatooine parts dealer in Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2, who enslaved Anakin and his mother. It turns out that he and his Toydarian people did not have their own language, which Hayden Christensen decided to fix.
The script for “Attack of the Clones” said that Hayden should speak to Watto in Wattan. The actor asked Lucas how it should sound, but he casually replied that it should not be English or another familiar language.
The night before the morning scene, Hayden was thinking about language. Now he is reviewing it with laughter, because he himself invented an unknown language. Surprisingly, it sounds pretty good.
This detail speaks volumes: not everything in the Star Wars universe is thought out to the smallest detail, and Lucas allowed the actors on the set to improvise.
June 22 is the final episode of Kenobi, in which Hayden Christensen once again plays Darth Vader.
