The original Deus Ex came out in 2000 and turns 22 this week. Considered one of the best PC games of all time, the game is one that many fans return to. At this point, it’s safe to say that many people know the game inside and out, but a new mod was recently released that aims to make every playthrough of the game feel completely new, even for veterans.
User Die4Ever has just released version 2.0 of the mod, which he simply calls Deus Ex Randomizer. As the name suggests, the mod takes the vanilla experience of the game and randomizes numerous aspects to make a difference. The accompanying video showcases some of these randoms, which include changing the player’s starting position, mission objectives, objects, enemies, and even randomizing some animations so that an enemy can dance for seemingly no reason.
This mod is definitely worth a try, especially for those who are already familiar with the game. Either way, it will be fun to see enemies dancing at random intervals. It’s also great to see that fans still love this classic game. Last year, someone gave the game some variety by releasing a mod for Deus Ex that turns protagonist JC Denton into a woman. What is impressive about this expansion is that the creator not only changed the character model, but also re-voiced the lines to match the female protagonist.
There was talk about a possible release of a new part of Deus Ex. However, this was denied by none other than Elias Tufeksi, who voiced Adam Jensen in Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Many may consider it a shame the lack of a continuation, especially since several years have passed since the release of the last part. But for now, at least there are a few games in the franchise for fans to play, and thanks to the Die4Ever mod, there’s a new way to play the first game.
