Market research agency Omdia has shared information about displays for upcoming iPhone 14 series smartphones. Despite previous issues with BOE, Apple will continue to work with this supplier.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, Apple suspended cooperation with BOE due to changes in the design of OLED displays for the iPhone 13. Now it became known that the same supplier received orders for OLED panels for the iPhone 14. In addition to BOE, some of the displays for the base 6 The 1-inch iPhone 14 will be produced by Samsung and LG Display.
Samsung will become Apple’s largest supplier of OLED panels this year as it will supply displays for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13. Another major supplier, LG, has received orders for OLED displays for standard iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
According to sources from Omdia, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will get LTPS OLED panels, which will offer a higher refresh rate than the previous generation, but it won’t change like LTPO displays. Most likely, the refresh rate of the displays of these devices will be 90 Hz.
Omdia predicts that Apple will order 205 million LTPS and LTPO OLED displays from its suppliers in 2022, with Samsung taking 60% of orders, LG Display 25% and BOE 15%.
