Season 3 of The Boys is gearing up for its biggest showdown yet. Anthony Starr, who plays Homelander, can’t wait for fans to see what happens when they meet.
For three seasons, The Boys’ main antagonist has never had anyone come close to the vast and exponential power he wields. Now that Voight’s original icon, Soldier, is back on the scene, he may have just met his equal.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Starr recently talked about Homelander’s upcoming confrontation with Toy Soldier in the near future. Starr compared his fight to him as being like two sharks fighting in an area that can only hold one of them. Knowing how powerful the two Supers are, Starr’s excitement is justified.
It’s definitely a real challenge when two great whites swim together in a very small sea. It was so much fun just playing with it.
Showrunner Eric Kripke added that since Soldier’s personality traits are so similar to those of Homelander, fans should expect to see a vibrant dynamic between the two.
His alpha instincts and Homelander’s alpha instincts will definitely lead to some fireworks… When you have two alpha males who both think they’re the most powerful and most popular people on the planet, it’s pretty quick to get into conflict.
While The Boys emphasized from the start that Homelander was the real antagonist as “Evil Superman”, the third season also showed that his predecessor, Toy Soldier, who is essentially “Evil Captain America”, was in the same boat. , which is Homelander. He was the all-powerful leader of Payback, who was internally disliked by most of his team. Their contempt for him was so strong that at the first chance to cut him out of their lives, they took advantage of it and were more than happy.
So since he knew what they did, it casts doubt on whether Toy Soldier is really the best alternative to Homelander in this world. Throughout the show, Homelander has clearly proven himself to be a big villain because while he doesn’t seek blood, he uses his unrivaled power to control everything by any means, even if it means killing people. Soldier is now furious when he knows that both Voight and his original team he cared for staged a coup to get him off the field. It’s hard to say where this rampage will end, especially since he was considered the “Homelander before the Homelander”. Even though Homelander is clearly losing his temper, Toy Soldier could potentially be a much worse option knowing what he’s already been through.
