Today, Crunchyroll announced that One Piece: Red is getting a theatrical release. This is the 15th film in the franchise, set to hit theaters in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in the fall of 2022.
One Piece: Red will once again follow Munky D. Luffy and the Straw Hats in an all-new adventure that dives deep into the world of the enigmatic character Shanks. The film will also feature Uta, the most beloved singer in the world, who revealed her identity to the world for the first time.
With the revelation of her identity also comes the shocking revelation that she is known to be Shanks’ daughter, and it is from this moment that the plot of the film begins. Speaking about One Piece: Red, Toei Animation President and CEO Masayuki Endo had this to say:
We’re excited to bring One Piece Film Red to theaters around the world this fall, which coincides with the 23rd anniversary of the One Piece franchise. This new film from creator Eiichiro Oda will truly take fans on an exciting new adventure with the Straw Hats, featuring the debut of Uta, a mysterious new character in the world of One Piece.
One Piece: Red will be produced by Toei Animation, with One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda serving as an executive producer.
