Bloomberg insider and journalist Mark Gurman shared information that the future Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones will receive the Always On Display feature to display new iOS 16 widgets.
According to Gurman, always-on displays will allow users to view information without having to tap the screen to “wake up” the device. As such, iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max will be able to display the new iOS 16 lock screen widgets, including weather, stocks, fitness, and more. In addition, Apple will introduce a special setting that will allow you to hide sensitive data from the lock screen.
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are expected to get new OLED displays that will be able to drop the refresh rate to 1Hz, like the Apple Watch. This will allow Apple to implement the Always On Display feature. Alas, last year’s iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models feature screens with refresh rates between 10Hz and 120Hz, so those models won’t get the new feature.
Most likely, Apple will introduce the iPhone 14 series in September.
