Russia can achieve technological sovereignty within 10-20 years, said Dmitry Peskov, special presidential envoy for digitalization, in an interview with RIA Novosti at SPIEF-2022 held in June. According to him, for this it is necessary to create a conditional “Diamond Technology Fund”, which includes a number of own developments that are key for the life of the country in case of any negative situations.
The official noted that the realistic goal of technological sovereignty is to create in 10–20 years 30–50 own lines of advanced developments, which will be included in the “Diamond Technology Fund” and will provide “food, security, medicine and connectivity in the country in case of any cataclysms.”
Peskov stressed that the question is what will this “Diamond Fund” include – “technological developments that either only you have, that is, this is technological superiority, or three to five other countries in the world have it, that is, technological parity.”
The presidential representative also noted the need for constant replenishment of the Diamond Fund with new technologies, since, unlike diamonds, which are eternal, they tend to depreciate, that is, become obsolete and lose relevance.
