Would you like to visit your favorite virtual world one day? Not just by pressing keys or using sticks, but literally walking around Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 or Los Santos from GTA V? The new STEPL mobile application aims to solve just this problem.
Developer STEPL recently shared a video in which he showed how, by walking in place, movements are transferred to a computer and converted into character movements. At the same time, no wires and special devices are required for this – only a smartphone in your pocket.
Playing shooters and other active titles with STEPL is not very convenient, but the developer positions the application as a tool for physical activity. You can go for an hour walk through virtual worlds or even perform some tasks.
It remains to wait until such functionality appears in VR devices, then the problem of movement in virtual games will remain in the past.
