TSMC has signed a contract with Apple to manufacture the new M2 Pro and M3 chips using a 3nm process technology.
According to Taiwanese industry publication DigiTimes, Apple has reserved TSMC’s capacity for upcoming 3nm M3 and M2 Pro processors. Mass production of 3nm chips will start in the second half of 2022. It is likely that the M2 Max and M2 Ultra will also be built on the 3nm process.
Apple will most likely announce the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips before the end of the year, along with updated 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, as well as a new Mac mini.
