Yakut studio Fntasticworking on The Day Beforewhere players have to survive in an open post-apocalyptic world, decided to talk more about the volunteering promoted by the company, which caused a mixed reaction among the players.
Fntastic notes that it considers all team members, including employees, to be volunteers. And these volunteers themselves are divided into two types:
internal – more than 100 specialists from Russia, Singapore, the Netherlands, Thailand, Finland, Kazakhstan and Belarus, who work as engineers, artists, etc. external – 40 people working on a pro bono basis and helping to test and analyze studio projects at an early stage of their development.
Also, external volunteers help with the localization of projects, which, for example, helped a lot when working on last year’s multiplayer horror propnight.
“Most of the translations have been redone by our external volunteers. Together with them we found bugs in Propnight, dealt with cheaters and even organized our communities in Discord.”
At the same time, well-proven and active external volunteers who worked on a gratuitous basis will be able to move to the staff of the studio (or become internal volunteers).
The developers also showed how The Day Before will look like on Unreal Engine 5. Recall that the game was supposed to be released on June 21 this year, but due to the transition to a new engine, the release date was changed to March 1, 2023.
“The Day Before has already been translated to Unreal Engine 5, and we are doing our best to release a high-quality product.”
