The State Duma passed a law according to which Russian authorities will be required to create and maintain official pages on social networks. This initiative is expected to contribute to the posting of up-to-date information on the activities of various departments on the Internet.
Amendments are being made to the Federal Law “On Ensuring Access to Information on the Activities of State Bodies and Local Self-Government Bodies” and Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Ensuring Access to Information on the Activities of Courts in the Russian Federation”.
As part of the project, the Ministry of Digital Development will develop a special system based on the State Services portal, with which government agencies and organizations will be able to manage their accounts, publish and edit information on social networks.
The list of social networks where officials will be required to maintain their pages will be determined by the government. At the same time, links to such resources will be made public on the official websites of departments.
“In social networks, officials will post news, texts and videos of speeches by the leadership of departments, the results of public opinion polls, materials on topics that are submitted for public discussion, the results of such discussions,” the official statement says.
