Two-thirds of the devices purchased by Russians in the second quarter are smartphones from Chinese brands. Xiaomi, realme, POCO were the most in demand, despite the general decrease in buying activity and changes in supply chains, sales of these brands showed an increase of about 7% in units compared to last year. M.Video-Eldorado reports this after analyzing the development of the Russian smartphone market in April-June 2022.
According to M.Video-Eldorado, in the second quarter of this year, the demand in the Russian smartphone market may reach about 4.4 million units and more than 100 billion rubles. The average bill will be about 22.3 thousand rubles, which is 4% lower than last year. In the second quarter, Russians gave preference to Chinese manufacturers, already in demand or just gaining popularity, which offer high-quality devices with up-to-date technical characteristics for various budgets and needs.

The top 5 most popular smartphones on the Russian market in the second quarter included: Chinese Xiaomi, which was one line below in the first quarter and last year. Second place went to Samsung. Realme moved up to the third position. Fourth was Apple. Closed the top five – POCO. The best-selling smartphone on the Russian market is Xiaomi Redmi 9A (32 GB).
The total share of Chinese companies in unit sales in the Russian market this year is steadily increasing, from 50% in the first quarter and 60% in April, to more than 70% in June. In general, in the second quarter, they already account for more than 65% of smartphones sold in Russia (50% a year earlier). Devices in the price range from 10 to 30 thousand rubles were in the greatest demand during this period.
