Today we are happy to inform you that Euro Truck Simulator 2 Open Beta 1.45 is now available for testing. Please note that this beta branch was released earlier than usual and is a build in progress that contains known issues and bugs.
If you are planning to participate in this open beta, we ask that you help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable to our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us.
Reworking Hannover
The city of Hannover has received a fresh look and has been completely redesigned for version 1.45! As with the Austria rework, we more or less removed the entire city and started from scratch. The city circle has been moved, although we have also done our best to keep as much of it as possible.
However, this does not apply to the city center and south as these areas now have a completely different layout with a new economy that actually consists of several unique warehouses in the ETS2 world.
One of the most unique areas that will appear in this rework will be the very famous Hannover Fair – one of the largest trading floors in the world, and also one of our biggest problems due to the fact that the part we are adding is almost 1: 1 scale. With the theme of industry development, trucks and trailers are always in the spotlight at the IAA event, which is a showcase for commercial vehicles and an opportunity for brands to showcase their ongoing technological advancements and evolution.
Maybe this area might come in handy later this year, who knows? We look forward to seeing you explore this reworked area in this update. Read more about it in one of our previous blog posts.
Tank trailers
We’re also excited to share with you another long-awaited addition to your purchasable trailer selection – owned tanks!
At the moment, we will add two different types of tank trailers to our games – fuel tanks and silos (trailers for transporting bulk materials). Both types will have different settings and uses. And don’t worry, we plan to bring you more versions of this trailer in the future!
Fuel tanks in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be used to transport flammable liquids. For silos, you can bring a range of bulk materials with you, such as sand, concrete or grain. Tank trailers will have 4 connection types (single, double, double B, HCT).
We are incredibly excited to see how you are transporting these new tank trailers in your company and how you set them up! You can learn more about your own tank trailers and what you can customize in our previous dedicated blog.
Krone Trailers Pack DLC Update
Owners of the Krone Trailer Pack DLC will receive two new trailers as part of a free update: the new Profi Liner Building trailer and the Paper Liner trailer. These new three-axle trailers will be supplied with lifting axles. So what can you haul with these new trailers?
The Krone Paper Liner Curtainsider Trailer is used to haul standard loads, while the updated Krone Profi Liner Building Material Flatbed Trailer allows drivers to haul goods such as seed bags, fertilizer, plant substrate, outdoor floor tiles, roof tiles and bricks. You’ll also find the new Boxliner cargo market, which consists of two Boxliner chassis stacked on top of each other for hauling!
Both trailers also come with optional accessories including original Krone paint, side skirts, pallet boxes, tire magazines and bumpers. This update also includes five new Krone accessories for your salon, including cute bear toys and trucks. but that’s not all!
We have also worked closely with the fantastic Krone team to bring you a detailed view of the Krone factory virtually in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Drivers who own the Krone Trailers Pack DLC will be able to deliver parts to and from the factory as needed. and deliver new trailers from Krone Trailer Point to the factory where they roll off the assembly line!

Custom city screensavers for Austria and Hannover
A new experimental feature that we’re introducing to players during the Open Beta is customizable city views. These special cutscenes appear when the player selects a starting city when creating a new profile.
For now, these custom city views will only be shown for cities in Austria and Hannover in Germany. We’d love to hear your feedback on this new feature and appreciate your feedback if you think this will be an interesting new addition for new players; be sure to let us know on our official forums, we would appreciate your comments!
Support for additional mods for Convoy
One of the features our teams have been working on for Convoy multiplayer is support for missing mods. We understand that many players play with third party mods created by our talented community, but we also understand that not everyone would like to download all the required mods to join a Friend Column session.
So our team came up with a solution that allows you to join Convoy sessions without having to make all the necessary changes to the host session. There will be subscription options, both server side and client side, to enable this if you choose to use this. In most cases, the session will not show the missing mod, however in some cases, for example if the player is using a vehicle that you don’t have, it will show up as a colored placeholder box that replicates its size.
If you are a modder in our community, please note that your mod must be marked “mp_mod_Optional” in order to be recognized as a MOD, which can be ignored by the convoy server, which allows no optional MODs.
Rain sensor
When you travel on the road for a while, you will definitely come across some light rain. Whether it’s a brief downpour or a severe storm, it’s important for drivers to stay safe while driving on the road in changing weather conditions.
One of the most common safety features used in vehicles today are rain sensors! This nifty technology does exactly what it says on the box: it detects rain density and in turn adjusts the speed of the wipers for you. This feature is active when you set your vehicle’s wipers to the first position.
This new feature will be available as an option that you can enable on the settings page. So the next time you drive into liquid sunlight, you won’t have to worry about adjusting your wipers.
Ability to hide inaccessible road signs
Another new UI option we’re introducing in this update is the ability to show or hide X markers that mark inaccessible/impassable roads for the player. This new option may make the game more exciting for some drivers, however we urge players to be careful and follow the correct route as the invisible barriers that prevent you from driving through these areas are still there and appear for a short time if you hit them!

If you’d like to participate in the open beta, you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. It is accessed as follows: Steam client → LIBRARY → right click on Euro Truck Simulator 2 → Properties → Betas tab → public_beta → 1.45. No password required. Sometimes you need to restart the Steam client to see the correct branch name there.
