While the GSC Game World team confirms the 2023 release of STALKER 2 by showing the introductory video, a fan of the iconic post-apocalyptic series is reconstructing all the textures of the first, iconic Shadow of Chernobyl chapter in 4K.
The creator of this ambitious fan made project is Andrey0007, a modder who is engaging in the reconstruction in high definition of all the textures that map the surfaces of weapons, natural scenarios, buildings, creatures and characters of STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.
The modernization of the textures is not yet finished but it is proceeding quickly, thanks to the use of the latest “intelligent” upscaling technologies based on Neural Networks, an approach increasingly adopted by modders in function of the extraordinary sharpness and quality returned by this genre of software which, moreover, has the undoubted advantage of significantly reducing development times.
A preliminary version of the work carried out by Andrey0007 is already available e completely free to download on the ModDB pages (find the link at the bottom of the news); even the final version of STALKER’s fan made Remaster can be downloaded for free, although the timing of publication of this important 4K texture pack is not yet known. In case you missed it, we present the touching video shown by GSC Game World during the Xbox Extended Showcase to discuss the development of STALKER 2 and the horrors of the war in Ukraine.
