Some game fans (should they really call them that?) outdo themselves when it comes to toxic behavior, and God of War Ragnarök’s creative director doesn’t find it funny at all.
It is quite understandable that many fans are not happy that there is still no specific date for God of War Ragnarök. For some, however, the fuses seem to have blown completely because of this.
A developer at Santa Monica Studios even received Dick Pics (photos of male genitalia) asking for a release date for the game and tweeted it. Not without refraining from pointing out that Dick Pics are generally not very effective.
Creative director Cory Barlog was not pleased with the behavior of the unsolicited image submitters and urged such individuals to show respect for the developers working their butts off for the game and the fans:
Are you fucking kidding me with this now???
I cannot believe I even have to say this but don’t fucking send dick pics to ANYONE on this team, or anyone in this industry for that matter.
They are busting their ass to make some for you to enjoy.
Show some fucking respect. https://t.co/o0xEZkWouj

After a twitterer then wanted to blame the leakers and journalists, who created unrealistic expectations and thus pressure on the studio with their rumors, Barlog intervened again and rejected it. The answer is not to find someone to blame or focus on hate, but to treat the people who make the things we love with some human decency and respect.
don’t.
the answer is not to find someone to blame or focus hate on. maybe just pay it forward and treat the people that make the things we love with some human decency and respect.
this is not a battle, we are not at war. we are just trying to make + enjoy things together.❤️ https://t.co/o1X3WBQyKF

A statement immediately followed by Phil Spencer from the Xbox team. He can’t wait to enjoy God of War when it comes out and thanked the team for their work.
Whether it’s the temperatures, the state of the world, or whatever, some people seem to be shooting pretty empty right now. Also yesterday, Monkey Island developer Ron Gilbert was fed up with the behavior of some so-called fans.
A new trailer for God of War Ragnarök was finally shown at the PlayStation Showcase – and it offered a lot of gameplay!
