Super Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and Animal Crossingjust to name a few, are a constant presence in the videogame panorama, names with guaranteed success on which rightly Nintendo focuses most of its efforts, with new games, spin-offs or re-releases released on a regular basis year after year.
Yet, the Big N would have an incredibly large amount of IPs at its disposal, many of which were also capable of garnering huge acclaim in the past. It is the case of F-Zero, the iconic futuristic racing series, which with each new appearance has always managed to get people talked about in the best way. For years, fans have been calling for a new chapter, even shareholders want the return of F-Zero on Nintendo Switch, but the brand has now stopped since 2004year in which F-Zero Climax made his debut sui GBA Japanese without ever officially landing in the West.
The now very long and currently endless wait has led some players to exasperation, willing to resort to the most absurd tricks to push Nintendo towards the development of a new title. Indeed, as revealed by Business Insidera Japanese fan known by the name of Momiji has come to spend the beauty of 5.6 million yen (equivalent to over $ 40,000) in Nintendo shares only to ask for the revival of the F-Zero during the company’s last tax meeting. Momiji described himself as a “diehard Nintendo fan“, especially loving the racing series starring Captain Falcon.
The president Shuntaro Furukawa, however, was clear on the question: it is impossible for Nintendo to create sequels for each series and thus satisfy the requests of all fans who ask not only F-Zero, but also the return of series as Wario Land, Baten Kaitos and many more. However, nothing prevents the arrival of new projects linked to dormant franchises in the future, but for now it is inevitable not to set expectations that may never materialize.
