Streaming service Apple TV+ held the theatrical premiere of the drama The Black Bird in Los Angeles, during which the creators of the series paid tribute to the memory of the legendary Ray Liotta, who played one of the main roles.
Screenwriter Dennis Lehane revealed at the Apple TV+ premiere that the character of the late Ray Liotta in the new thriller The Black Bird was written specifically for the actor.
“He was as good as advertised. He raised the bar and he never shot the same take twice. He was a consummate, consummate professional,” said Lehane.
American actor Ray Liotta died on May 26, 2022 at the age of 67. During his career, he played more than 50 roles, and his characters from the films Goodfellas, Turbulence, and Birth of the Mafia became the most memorable. In addition, he voiced Tommy Vercetti from the popular GTA: Vice City game.
The Black Bird series is based on the true story of a young man sentenced to 10 years in prison. Jimmy Keene (Taron Egerton) could drastically reduce his sentence if he befriends suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Paul Walter Houser) and gets his confession.
The first two episodes of The Black Bird will be available to Apple TV+ subscribers on Friday, July 8. The remaining four episodes will air weekly on Fridays.
