Russian studio Owlcat Games working on role play Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Traderand details about the future project told publication IGN creative director of the studio Alexander Gusev.
And Gusev began his story with his favorite mechanics in the universe Warhammer 40K: Any use of magic by psykers is subject to the possibility of injury, insanity, demonic possession, or death. This danger will continue in the game, although the details of the mechanics are not yet known.
For their game, the developers have chosen not the most common setting of the gloomy universe. Our heroes will be Rogue Traders who can not only kill xenos, but also interact with them in other ways. This allows you to show not only epic large-scale battles, but also the peaceful parts of the Imperium and the life of ordinary aliens.
Players will have to assemble their team in various parts of the universe, and it will include characters with a wide variety of understandings of how to serve the God-Emperor. And managing conflict within a group consisting of an Adepta Sororitas, an Adeptus Mechanicus Magos, an Inquisition Investigator, a Space Wolves Space Marine, and a Space Elf will be an important part of the gameplay.
Rogue Trader will be a classic RPG focused on companions, and disputes between them will be resolved in a variety of ways, up to the murder. But throughout the game, the decisions we make will seriously affect both the fate of the companions and the course of the plot.
The personal stories of the team members will be part of an epic storyline that features prominent Warhammer 40K factions including Chaos, Aeldari, Drukhari, and Necrons. And all our enemies will not appear out of nowhere, they will be properly introduced in advance in the course of the story.
We will face opponents face to face in turn-based battles. This option was chosen because the developers wanted to focus on the actions of each individual character. In particular, we will have time to assess the level of danger of the warp and prevent an unauthorized psyker from burning out his brain.
It is not yet known when Rogue Trader might be released, but Owlcat is planning a series of beta testing rounds. Buyers will have guaranteed access to them founder’s kits.
