TikTok has officially confirmed that some Chinese employees may have accessed US users’ data. The social network has already promised US senators to “eliminate any doubts about the security of user data.”
Shaw Zi Chu, CEO of the social network, noted that TikTok stores data of American users on servers operated by Oracle, which are verified by a third party. He also said the company plans to remove sensitive user data from the US and move entirely to Oracle’s US-based cloud servers.
Recall that last week the US Federal Communications Commission called on Apple and Google to remove the TikTok app from their stores by July 8.
