Authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman shared information that the Apple Watch Series 8 will receive a new sensor for measuring body temperature.
In a new edition of the Power On newsletter, Gourmand talked about a new sensor coming to the next generation of Apple Watch.
He clarified that the body temperature measurement function will not give specific readings, as with a standard thermometer, but the watch will notify users if it detects a fever.
It’s worth noting that certain features of the new Apple Watch sensor, including accurate body temperature measurement, will need to be approved by each country’s medical department. Most likely, a body temperature sensor will work the way a pulse oximeter is implemented. That is, the watch will give a general idea of what is happening with the user’s body, but this information is not medically accurate.
Gurman believes that the built-in thermometer will receive the Apple Watch Series 8 and the new protected version of the watch. The base 2nd generation Apple Watch SE will remain without this innovation.
