Dataminer RealiityUK has published another leak about upcoming Call of Duty games. This time, the new footage is said to come from the next series offshoot of the Treyarch developer studio, which is planned for 2024. The Charlie Intel fan site suspects that a new Black Ops will appear in the year after next – and the new leak could provide a foretaste of the possible multiplayer maps. Like Imgur.com, the leaker shows, among other things, a map codenamed “Stealth”, which apparently plays on a US military base at an unknown location. The second picture shows “Pillage” – a section of a destroyed building.
These are most likely concept art that could reflect an early stage of development. According to the information, the images come from the game files of an alpha version of Project Aurora, a mobile project for the Battle Royale shooter Call of Duty Warzone. It was only at the weekend that the leaker published images of the supposed maps from Modern Warfare 2, which should be on the market at the end of October. However, it remains unclear why the closed alpha phase for a mobile offshoot of Warzone includes image material and files for unreleased content.
Next Call of Duty only in 2024?
The Bloomberg portal reported earlier this year that Treyarch’s next premium Call of Duty title will not be released until 2024 – and the series will therefore be taking a break next year. It is conceivable that Modern Warfare 2 will therefore be expanded with additional content over a period of two years. Treyarch would have four years to develop the new Call of Duty. Black Ops Cold War, the latest Treyarch installment, was released in 2020.
