Denuvo Software Solutions, which develops and maintains the Denuvo protection system for games, has introduced a similar anti-piracy solution for DLC. The new development is called SecureDLC.SecureDLC is a software extension that adds a tracking mechanism to the game code that blocks any attempts by intruders to “spirit” one or another content additive. The novelty will be available to all developers who use the original Denuvo to protect their products.
Denuvo representatives claim that they created SecureDLC to protect developers from the actions of attackers who easily bypass the protection of the Steam platforms, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, gaining access to additional content.
SecureDLC can be used not only with major add-ons, but also with minor updates. In all cases, the protection makes “small changes” to the source code and checks the API.
The new security system should appeal to shareware game developers who rely on DLC sales as their main source of income.
