Today the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) issued warning Google LLC for “abusing dominance” and preventing developers from using third-party payment methods on Google Play.
According to the rules of the Google Play Developer Program, they are only allowed to use the Google payment system. The commission of the company in this case is 30%. For violation of the rules, the application may be removed from the store or its updates may be restricted.
The FAS said that Google should allow third-party payment methods within a month. Otherwise, an antitrust case will be initiated.
Previously, under the same “flywheel” got Apple. First, she fined over 900 million rubles for abuse of dominance, then ordered Apple to indicate third-party payment methods in applications, and then filed a case for the company’s refusal to indicate additional payment systems.
