Problems with Diablo Immortal continue. Following the streamers, specialized fan sites began to turn away from the donated mobile game. For example, the well-known Maxroll resource dedicated to mechanics and build building (including Diablo 2 and Diablo 3), deleted game section.
The Maxroll team highlights the games we’re passionate about. We had high hopes for Diablo Immortal from Blizzard because it could attract a new audience and a new generation of gamers to the franchise we love. Over the course of two years, our team (along with the community) thoroughly tested the alpha and beta versions, concluding that something great could be made from the game. We have provided a lot of feedback during these testing phases to help make Diablo Immortal good game. However, with a heavy heart, today we announce the closure of the section on the website Diablo Immortal.
According to Maxroll representatives, in early test versions, Blizzard’s game was much better than on release – including due to the lack of a store and pay-to-win mechanic. However, the closer the release of the title was, the more the developers “spoiled” the gameplay, introducing artificial restrictions and pushing players towards microtransactions:
Many of the key issues are still not fixed, and the Free-To-Play experience is worse than we could ever imagine. The shop allows players to purchase infinite Resonance and Battle Rating, while new 5-star Legendary Gems bundles are sold directly.
It is not easy to part with something that you have invested a lot of time in. However, we feel responsible for the games we choose to support and the types of games we want to see. Maxroll exists to provide services to members of our community. Therefore, we cannot continue to cover this game in good faith.
Canceling a game that we’ve put a total of 10,000+ hours of work into is not something we do lightly. In fact, we’ve never stopped supporting a game before. Unfortunately, recent events have pushed us to this decision.
Monetization scandals Diablo Immortal have not subsided since the release, and the title itself has already managed to set a kind of record, becoming the lowest-rated game in the history of the Metacritic aggregator.
