“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will be accompanied by a mode called DMZ. According to Tom Henderson, players shouldn’t expect this to be a free-to-play title.
According to rumors, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will get a mode called DMZ, which is similar in content to “Escape From Tarkov”. However, contrary to belief that this is a standalone free-to-play experience, DMZ appears to be a regular mode in the upcoming shooter. That’s what the usually well-informed insider Tom Henderson wants to know.
“Sources familiar with DMZ have refuted such claims, saying DMZ will be released later this year alongside Modern Warfare 2, with one source saying it’s just another mode,” like Henderson regarding rumors that saw DMZ as a free-to-play title with a release in the coming year.
DMZ will be expanded over time
DMZ will have some similarities to Escape From Tarkov. However, according to the insider, the plan is to only evolve the mode over time with new features and content. This means that DMZ initially appears to be much smaller in scope than previously reported.
The mode could therefore be less attractive at launch because there is a lack of content that will only be expanded over time. Ultimately, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode aims to give players the opportunity to earn skins, blueprints, and more. However, DMZ shouldn’t be as hard as “Escape From Tarkov”.
