Although technically there are already good emulators for PS3 games on PC, Sony has not yet proposed a proper solution on this front within the PS5.
The PS3 games in the catalog PlayStation Plus Premiumin fact, they can only be used through streaming to remedy the problem, but it is possible that the issue is destined to evolve in the coming months and these assumptions by Sony seem to go in the direction of a technical progression in the reproduction of classic games on PS5.
“The position of Software Development Engineer within the Tools and Technology team supports our recently relaunched PS4 and PS5 classics section,” reads the job description. “Classic games work through emulation of old PlayStation platforms. As a Classics Engineer, you will work closely with a group of other developers, producers and QA workers to fix bugs, develop new features and even new emulators.”
This could also link to Sony’s recent registered patent which appears to point to the use of PS3 accessories and peripherals on PS5.
