Ministry of Industry and Trade does not consider care Microsoft from the Russian market as a critical situation. Users who prefer “pirated” software will not be affected. And for developers and manufacturers of Russian software, it will provide an opportunity to prove themselves. About it declared Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak.
“I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we see a significant increase in the competitiveness of solutions, with increased demand and access to the consumer, with their feedback, our developers will be able to make a breakthrough in improving the quality of their products.”
Vasily Shpak, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade
Shpak also recalled that Russian operating systems already exist, such as Astra Linux, ALT Linux and RED OSwhich cope with the tasks, so the issue of creating an analogue of Windows is not as acute as it might seem.
Recall that at the beginning of March Microsoft suspended new sales of products and services in Russia, but continued to support existing customers and retained offices. Then, on June 8, information appeared in the media that the American corporation Microsoft significantly reduce its presence in Russia. As a result, about 400 employees will suffer. And since June 19, users from Russia and Belarus cannot download Windows 10 and Windows 11 from the official Microsoft website. When trying to download ISO files with images, the error “404 – File or Directory not found” occurs. In Microsoft’s English-language support, the inability to boot Windows in two countries was explained by a “government order.”
