Professional Fortnite player Evan “Cented” Barron has been part of FaZe Clan, one of the largest esports organizations, since March 2021. Cented has participated in numerous Fortnite tournaments over the past few years and has won quite a substantial amount of prize money. It looked like the player had a bright future ahead of him, but in just a few seconds Cented completely destroyed his career.
Professional Fortnite player gives a racist greeting to a friend, ruining his career
Cented entered the voice chat of a fellow streamer who was currently live streaming. The Fortnite professional probably didn’t know anything about this, which is why he greeted his friend with the N-word. Only a short time later, the nine-second Clip of this scene shared on Twitterin which Cented is told by his fellow streamer that he is currently live.
FaZe permanently fired the player a little later. The reason given is “Hate Speech”, which the FaZe Clan “can’t stand any longer”. In the past, other players have not received such harsh penalties for similar events, but FaZe may want to be tougher on such offenses in the future.
Cented himself explainedthat they parted by “mutual consent”. He continues to apologize to his fans on Twitter as he actually knew better. The word shouldn’t have been in his vocabulary. He also explains that between the years 2021 and 2022 he “lost his way” and his ego just got too big. He went from a “nice boy” to a person who made many enemies.
It happens again and again that Twitch streamers are blocked because of statements made or have to give up their entire careers. Just recently, for example, the streamer Greekgodx was banned from the streaming platform for his monologue about relationships.
