Any Harry Potter fan knows that the wand itself chooses the sorceress or wizard, but in previous games, players never had that privilege. However, as Hogwarts Legacy is all about a new character and a new adventure, many are wondering if they can make their own trip to the Ollivander family’s store.
Game forum member LittleOTT revealed a few secrets from a friend who worked on the original development of the game at Warner Bros. It turns out that the team thought through romantic relationships – which have long been rumored, as well as customization of magic wands, the fascinating process of sorting into Hogwarts houses and the backstory of a squib (a person born into a family of wizards, but completely devoid of magical abilities).
LittleOTT notes that this person was part of the initial planning stages five years ago and things could have changed since then, especially now that he is no longer part of that team. Nevertheless, this small piece of development has a little angered the community.
Wand customization has been a highly requested feature by the community, especially since a gameplay demo at Sony State of Play in March showing wizards with different types of wands.
Even if players can’t choose what their wands are made of, they may well have the ability to change their appearance. In the Harry Potter films, the wands that wizards were equipped with have steadily become more ornate, and the community hopes that they too will be given the freedom to do so.
