Publisher Spike Chunsoft and developers at Chime Corporation have unveiled new details on the “Deep Abyss” mode from Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, in which we will live an original story as a fully customizable character. For the occasion, some new imageswhich you can view in the gallery below.
If in “Hello Abyss” we relive the adventures of Riko and the humanoid robot Reg seen in the anime, in the Deep Abyss mode of Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, instead, we will play the role of an original Cave Raider intent on exploring the depth of the Abyss, all accompanied by an unpublished story, supervised by the author of the original work, Akihito Tsukushi.
As explained in the new official release, we will advance in Deep Abyss by completing the main tasks, recovering relics and completing side missions, getting experience points and money as a reward to upgrade our virtual avatar.
Our base will be in the city of Orth, already known to those who have seen the anime of Made in Abyss, in which we will have to prepare for the excursions in the Abyss. Initially we will be “Red Whistle” apprentices and we will accept assignments from Jiruo at the Belchero Orphanage, but as we increase our rank we will receive new missions from different and obviously increasingly dangerous people.
The main objectives within the Abyss are the main missions where the original story takes place, the guild missions and the collection of relics. The main character has three attributes: “physical strength”, “satiety” and “endurance”. Both satiety and stamina decrease when acting. Stamina recovers automatically, but to regain satiety you will need to eat at regular intervals.
In addition to these three stats, we will have to take into account numerous other factors when exploring the Abyss, including the surrounding environment, the character’s health, the amount of food remaining, the status of the tools and the weight of the provisions.
After reaching their goal in the Abyss, the Raider must return to the surface. However, as in the original work, the deeper you go, the greater the effects of the Curse of the Abyss when trying to come back to the surface, affecting both the physical and mental state of the character, causing for example vomiting and bleeding. In addition, the Abyss hides many dangers, including ferocious creatures and changes in the surrounding terrain that could force the player to take a different path during the ascent.
Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will be available for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC starting in September 2, 2022.
