Last year, a number of studio employees superhot team announced that their vision for new projects was at odds with that of the rest of the team. As a result, with the support of the authors of the popular action movie, the natives opened a new studio, Something Random.
How informed portal Puls Business head and founder of Something Random, now a new studio has received funding from the Chinese giant NetEase. The exact amount is not called, but we are talking about several million dollars. And this money will be enough to work on two projects at once.
The studio currently has ten employees, and NetEase funding will expand the staff. And already in 2023, the studio plans to release a debut project, a first-person shooter for virtual reality.
Something Random has another VR game in the works. It’s a railway-themed strategy game with logic puzzle elements and should be a live service with years of support and extensions.
NetEase is supporting a Polish studio for the first time, although other Chinese companies have long invested in the Polish gaming industry. In particular, Tencent bought PixelAnt and is the largest shareholder Bloober Team.
