According to the PSVR2 Without Parole YouTube channel, which previously leaked reliable information on the second generation of Sony’s virtual reality helmet, the headset will have a replaceable cable.
The news is good, but there is one caveat – the part of the wire connected to the headset will have a proprietary port. The part that will connect to the PS5 will get the usual USB-C.
Apparently, Sony will sell the cable as a replacement for a damaged one, and also if the length of the complete one suddenly becomes insufficient for the end user.
Headset specifications:
-
OLED displays with 2000×2040 resolution per eye or 4K resolution combined and up to 120 fps
-
110 degree viewing angle
-
Fresnel lenses and a lens adjustment dial that allows you to adjust the focus to your taste
-
Eye tracking with internal camera. This will allow processing in high resolution those areas where the player is looking. This technology is not found in other mainstream VR headsets. It will bring the graphics in the VR industry to a truly new level for the mass consumer.
-
Connect to PS5 with a single cable without extra boxes
-
Four external cameras on the helmets to track movements. No separate camera needed
-
Gamepads with finger touch support, improved vibration and adaptive triggers like those found in DualSense
The price of PS VR2 is not yet known. The helmet is rumored to go on sale in the first quarter of 2023. Last week it became known that technology from the Swedish company Tobii will be used to track the gaze of a player in a helmet.
