The fourth season of Stranger Things is formally a series of feature films. The duration of each of the episodes exceeded an hour, and the last one completely stretched for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
According to the Duffer Brothers, although the fifth and final season will be longer than the previous ones, the showrunners intend to pack the story into a ten-hour format.
We thought season four would have eight [эпизодов] and they will be regular length. So if we had been interviewed before it premiered, we would have said the same thing. In Season 5, we’re also targeting eight episodes.
We do not want to stretch the story for 13 hours – ten will be enough. It will be longer than the first one because we have a lot of story arcs to complete, but it’s unlikely to compare to the fourth one.
The showrunners also stated that they are now going on vacation, and will finish work on the script in August. David Harbour, in an interview with GQ, noted that filming will most likely start next year, and the premiere will probably take place only in mid-2024.
The fourth season of “Stranger Things” became the most watched show in the first and second weeks of the entire existence of the Nielsen ratings.
