While continuing to work on Final Fantasy 16, producer Naoki Yoshida is committed to Final Fantasy 14. In his latest email, he confirmed that Patch 6.2 “Buried Memory” will be released at the end of August. It will add a Sanctuary Island where players can build facilities, collect materials, raise various animals, and more.
Completing content on Sanctuary Island will also grant currency that can be exchanged for “special items”. Of course, in addition to that, there are new main scenario quests, new side quests for Tataru’s Great Aspiration, a new dungeon in Troy’s Fallen Court, and a new challenge available on Normal and Extreme difficulty. The Pandæmonium: Abyssos raid will also be released – at first it will be normal difficulty, and after a week it will be wild.
Players can also look forward to a new Unreal Trial against Sephiroth and additional changes to the main scenario. For example, Duty Support will now extend to the main scenario dungeons, from Snow Cloak to The Vault. The Steps of Faith challenge will also be redesigned to work like a solo quest battle.
Of course, there is more to come. Patch 6.25, currently slated for a “slightly later” date, will include the following:
New Side Quests – Somehow the further adventures of Hildibrand continue in update 6.25. New quests to improve weapons. Players can obtain and upgrade Manderville weapons throughout the 6.x update series, which will be unlocked through the Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures quest chain. New tribal quests: Omicron – quests focused on the Followers of the Earth New combat content “Variable Dungeons”. Formerly called Criterion Dungeons, players can enjoy this new dungeon content of varying difficulty, starting with Sil’dihn Subterrane, designed for 1-4 players, with enemy difficulty based on party size. Dungeons will have branching routes that change depending on the player’s actions in the dungeon. Another Path: Criterion Dungeons is a four-player high difficulty content that has a visually similar area to Variant Dungeons but has a pre-set route. Criterion Dungeon content will include two variants of varying difficulty, each with its own unique set of rules and characteristics.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
